The Government Inspector in a Play Reading at the BA

Posted on

Alexandria— The Reference Services Unit is holding its monthly play reading in English on Wednesday, 11 March 2009. Participants will read The Government Inspector by Nikolai Gogol.

The corrupt officials of a small Russian town, headed by the Police Chief, react with terror to the news that an incognito inspector will soon be sent to their town. The arrival of a suspicious person from Saint Petersburg, the capital of the Russian Empire at that time, interrupts the officials’ attempts to cover up their various misdeeds and clean up the town. The confusion begins when they mistake Khlestakov, the upper class clerk, for the awaited inspector.

The session starts at 16:00 hrs. at the BA Arts and Multimedia Library. Participants should register their names at the General Information Desk at the Library entrance.
