Training Course on Arts of Arabic Writing at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA)

Alexandria, 26 January 2006—As part of the BA"s initiative to disseminate all kinds of knowledge, the BA Calligraphy Center will organize a new training course for adults entitled, "Arts of Arabic Calligraphy".
Mohamed Roteil, Head of the Arabic Calligraphy Unit, stated that the course will be held in collaboration with the BA Egyptian Friends Association. He added that the course will start as of 1 February 2006 untill 1 April 2006. The course will cover the theoretical and practical aspects of Arabic calligraphy as well as different kinds of scripts including: Kufic, Diwani, Thuluth, in addition to other scripts considered nowadays an integral part of the Arabic culture.
