- 21 June 2009
Eratosthenes festivity takes place on 21 June of every year, at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina and in Aswan city. It is designed for preparatory school students and includes a series of activities that revolve around Eratosthenes's methodology in measuring the Earth’s circumference 2000 years ago.
This year, the day began with a lecture, telling Eratosthenes' history and explaining how to measure the circumference of the earth. After that, the kinds went to the BA Plaza to do their measurements, followed by a videoconference between Alexandria, Aswan and other countries to compare measurement results.
