Zoom Earth
10 April 2009 - 10 April 2009

“Zoom Earth” program is concerned with observations of Earth from space by means of satellites. Satellites capture images that differ according to the type of light waves reflected by different elements on Earth, using very sensitive equipment to visible and invisible light. By analyzing the images provided by the satellites, professionals get the information they need to better monitor and study Earth.

Along with the IYA activities organized by the Planetarium Science Center (PSC), a one-day trip was organized to “Dr. Mustafa Mahmoud Observatory” in Cairo on Friday, 10 April 2009. Mr. Ayman Ibrahim, resident astronomer at the PSC, has given the students a lecture as well as a sky observation during the Zoom Earth program. Schools that participated in Zoom Earth activities were Amr Abdel Aziz Shoer, Omar el Mokhtar, Sainte Catherine, Roots, Sami El Baroudi, and El Dekhila”.
