Science Festivity 2011
10 April 2011 - 10 April 2011

On April 10 2011, the PSC organized the fifth Science Festivity. Each year, the Science Festivity has an overarching theme, around which activities, including hands-on exhibits, experiments, games, and sessions revolve. This year, the main theme was “Science and Scientists” emphasizing their pivotal role in the economic growth. The event took place from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm, at the BA Plaza.

The Science Festivity is a market-like event where schools, universities, as well as NGOs offer science to the public for free. For four consequent years, the PSC has successfully organized the Science Festivity, now one of the Center’s most prominent and highly anticipated annual events attracting nearly 20,000 visitors in 2010. In 2011, the Science Festivity was back for the fifth time to give the public a new and unique taste of science.

This year’s event included a Puppet Show entitled “The Miraculous Child” by El Sawy Culture  Wheel in the Small Theater, BA Conference Center. There was also a Super Science Show where the PSC team introduced a new phase of excitement and science learning to the visitors. It is a dynamic and highly motivational activity in the fields of physics, biology, and chemistry, using water, liquid Nitrogen, dry ice and soda cans.

At the end of the day, Dr. Farouk El-Baz, director of the center for remote sensing at Boston university, gave a lecture at the BA Conference Center, Great Hall at 6:00 pm.
