Spectacular Sunrise over Cairo
Photo by Aymen Ibrahem, Senior Astronomy Specialist
On Saturday, 14 July 2007, there were low altitude clouds drifting over the eastern horizon of Cairo, during sunrise. Mr. Aymen Ibrahem, Senior Astronomy Specialist, observed the spectacular display of crepuscular rays and cloud shadows that resulted due to the passage of the clouds in front of the rising Sun.
"This was one of the most beautiful displays of crepuscular rays and cloud shadows I have ever observed," said Ibrahem. "As the Sun was near the horizon, the crepuscular rays were orange in color. They spanned a large area of the eastern sky, resembling golden stretched arms."
