Gladiators: A Clash of Two Crab Spiders

Crab spiders are fascinating creatures. They are highly camouflaged ambush hunters that prey on flower-visiting insects, such as bees, flies and butterflies. Exercising his favorite hobby of wildlife photography, BA Senior Astronomy Specialist, Aymen Ibrahem, recently recorded the clash of two small crab spiders.
Ibrahem applied high zoom levels to capture the exciting scenes of the fight. He named his series of photos "Gladiators: A Clash of Two Crab Spiders". The smaller spider was vanquished.
Last spring, Ibrahem made extensive observations of crab spiders in Egypt. The work yielded numerous interesting photos, showing the camouflage and predatory behavior of these crab-like predators.
