On the 28
th and 29
th of March 2012, the Planetarium Science Center (PSC) has organized the 6
th Science Festivity. The overarching theme of SF 2012 was “Natural Sciences: Sun and Earth", it took place from 9.30 to 16.00 at the B.A Plaza. The event raised the public awareness of the importance of saving our limited natural resources, and preserving the environment through knowledge.
One week before the festivity (22
nd-23
rd of March, 2012), the promotional campaign started at Alexandria City Center, to promote for the event.
SF 2012 was planned to highlight the role the Sun plays in humankind life, being a source of energy, and a part of the Earth’s Solar System, and the reflection of this on agriculture, water cycle, animals, human body, and astronomy. Also, it explained terrestrial nature in various aspects, including agriculture, industry, environment, construction, and geology.
SF 2012 was demonstrated through a number of hands-on-activities. 6,000 visitors visited and enjoyed the different themes covered in 44 booths from different faculties, NGO’s, schools, Centers, groups.
For the second year, the event included a puppet show entitled “Disappearing of the Sun" presented by El Sawy Cultural Wheel in the BA Conferences Center at Small Theater. The PSC team introduced a new phase of the Super Science Show (SSS), which attracts the event’s visitors each year by the dynamic and interactive activities in the field of physics, mechanics etc… The event also introduced the “Activities Movable Tables’’, that roam in the village of Science three times a day, and presented various activities related to the Astronomy field.
During April, there will be a number of festivities organized by schools and NGO’s which are in a partnership with the PSC to organize a Science festivity at their venues.
