Glide to the Moon

On 19 July 2006, Mr Aymen Ibrahem, PSC, Senior Astronomy Specialist, performed an observing session in the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Plaza. He was observing cloud patterns and interesting optical atmospheric phenomena.

During the observation, a beautiful falcon flew over the Plaza. The prince of birds performed graceful glides, and then managed to remain floating, almost stationary, for several minutes!

The clever bird was hovering near the waning crescent Moon, which was high in the morning sky. It was a great opportunity for Ibrahem to obtain close-up photos of this magnificent view. He named this sequence of pictures "Glide to the Moon".
