On the morning of 21 February 2008, a total lunar eclipse was visible in Egypt. The Moon plunged into Earth’s umbra at 03:43 EET (01:43 GMT). The Moon took 3 hours and 26 minutes to traverse our planet’s immense shadow. BA Senior Astronomy Specialist, Aymen Ibrahem, observed the eclipse from Cairo, Egypt.

On the late evening of 13 February 2008, it rained heavily, in Alexandria, Egypt. Observing the powerful rainstorm from the BA Plaza, BA Senior Astronomy Specialist, Aymen Ibrahem, imaged a spectacular rainbow, and recorded the entire stages of its development. While fading gradually, during sunset, the rainbow glowed only in a fascinating red hue. This type of rainbow is known as red bow.

On the morning of 14 February 2008, heavy rain fell in Alexandria, Egypt. A bright rainbow gleamed over the BA. Observing from the BA Plaza, BA Senior Astronomy Specialist, Aymen Ibrahem, imaged the spectacular rainbow, and its fainter, larger twin, the secondary rainbow.

On the evening of 27 November 2007, there were magnificent patterns of high clouds over Alexandria, Egypt; and, the visibility across the western horizon permitted sunset observation. By reflecting the reddened sunlight, the high clouds glimmered in bright fascinating hues, during evening twilight. BA Senior Astronomy Specialist Aymen Ibrahem took numerous images of this celestial spectacle.

White wagtails are wonderful migratory birds. They are small insectivores, measuring about 15 cm in length. They characteristically wag their long tails after landing. White wagtails migrate from Europe and Asia to Africa. They are observable in Egypt, from October to May.

On Tuesday, 22 January 2008, heavy rains lasted for several hours in Alexandria, Egypt. BA Senior Astronomy Specialist Aymen Ibrahem observed the rainstorm, and in the end of the day, he pictured a fascinating sunset.

On 1 January 2008, there were patterns of high clouds in the sky of Alexandria, Egypt. Due to the passage of sunlight through the tiny ice crystals contained in these clouds, a bright Sun halo encircled the rising Sun. BA Senior Astronomy Specialist, Aymen Ibrahem, took numerous interesting images of this Sun halo, with the Library building and the Planetarium as foreground objects.
