A team of researchers, from the University of Cambridge and the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), applied a technique known as “Lucky Imaging” to obtain the sharpest pictures of stars and nebulae ever produced. The images, taken at a ground-based observatory, are of a resolution higher than even those of the Hubble Space Telescope (HST), and 50 times less expensive.

On 4 September 2007, BA Senior Astronomy Specialist, Aymen Ibrahem, was observing the Sun, which was declining in the Western horizon. Beautiful low-altitude clouds were drifting in the sky. Ibrahem recorded interesting images of the fascinating patterns of crepuscular rays and cloud shadows that resulted due to the passage of clouds in front of the Sun.

"On Earth, water arrived in the form of icy asteroids and comets. Water also exists mostly as ice in the dense clouds that form stars," said Watson. "Now we have seen that water, falling as ice from a young star system's envelope to its disk, actually vaporizes on arrival. This water vapor will later freeze again into asteroids and comets."

On the morning of 13 August 2007, BA Senior Astronomy Specialist, Aymen Ibrahem, was exercising wildlife photography, his favorite hobby. Ibrahem recorded a breathtaking scene: a highly camouflaged giant crab spider predating on a bee.
