In light of celebrating the premiere of the Planetarium shows The Enlighted Mind and The Mission and the inauguration of the ALEXploratorium after renovation, a seminar entitled "Towards a Society of Knowledge" will be held, on Sunday 17th of July 2016, from 4 pm to 5 pm in the small theater at the BACC.

In August 2014, the European mission of Rosetta arrived to the comet Choremov – Gerasimenko and the mission began to rewrite the science of comets. Until now, this science is still mystifying astronomers with all the daily developments especially the Osiris camera which succeeded in taking photos of the comet’s surface more accurately than the pictures of Mars captured by satellites.

The Planetarium Science Center is organizing the 9th Summer Program. School students of ages 4-16 years are invited to join the program, starting on the 22nd of May 2016 till the 8th of September 2016. The program includes various activities that fit all age groups. The closing ceremony will be held at the end of the program.

For the fourth consecutive year, the Intel Bibliotheca Alexandrina Science and Engineering Fair (Intel BASEF) teams won two of the top places in the 2016 International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF), which was held from 8 to 13 May 2016 in Phoenix, Arizona, USA.

The BA Planetarium Science Center is inviting the public, students and sky lovers to monitor the phenomenon on Mercury’s transit across the sun for free on Monday, the 9th of May starting from 12:30 pm. There will be observations by telescopes at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina to monitor the phenomenon of Mercury’s transit across the sun using special solar filters. We strongly advise you not to look at the sun by the naked eye during the transit.

During the period between the 8th and 15th century, which is called the golden age of Islamic civilization, the Arabs’ contributions to the human civilization are endless in different scientific fields, especially Astronomy. We can say that what has been achieved is the product of the Arab-Islamic thoughts and as a result of the development, transfer and translation of Arab thoughts and the previous science from former civilizations in addition to the above mentioned innovations and inventions.

The Planetarium Science Center (PSC) in collaboration with Intel Egypt and the Ministry of Education are organizing Intel Bibliotheca Alexandrina Science and Engineering Fair from 13-15 March 2016. In the closing ceremony, four winning projects will be announced, which will represent Egypt in the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF) in the USA during the period from 8-13 May 2016.
