Abstract:
The analytical framework in this document is a methodology to assess existing tourism legislation and policies in the context of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and to assist developing countries to develop a legal and policy framework for tourism so that it accords with and promotes the MDGs targets. Tourism is one of the fastest growing sectors in developing countries and can make a huge contribution to national and local economies if it is managed properly and if the sector is integrated in the country’s MDGs and poverty reduction strategies.
