Abstract:
The potential and benefits of domestic biogas are outlined and the main features and problems of SNV’s approach to preparing and implementing national domestic biogas programmes in Asia and Africa are described. These interrelated features are: (1) facilitating thorough, participatory and context-specific preparation; (2) establishing a sustainable sector as the ultimate long-term objective; (3) interlinking impact and capacity development targets; (4) promoting a market-oriented approach; and (5) attributing sector functions to multiple stakeholders.
