Abstract:
This report attempts to demystify artisanal mining in Ituri. It aims to contribute to a greater understanding of the formation and dynamics of artisanal mining and, more importantly, the experiences of artisanal gold miners and the affected population. Artisanal mining is not only a very important economic sector in Ituri, but also a potential source of significant conflict.
