As with diabetes, the age-related
rise in the reporting of hypertension begins earlier among Indigenous people
than non-Indigenous people. There appears to be a levelling off after age 55,
which may indicate a relatively healthy survivor group. (As noted in an earlier
slide, a high proportion of deaths identified as Indigenous occur before age
50.)
