“Human beings are made up of two systems:
Biological-physiological systems and psychological processes. Behaviour can be caused by
biological-physiological needs as well as psychological needs. So then behaviour has a
goal and it is motivated.”(Can Baysal, erdal Tekarslan,1996) On the other hand majority of behaviours are learnt. Learning is a dynamic process because it can change the axial location of behaviour. For example a child learns how to brush his/her teeth from his/her parents. And from the point of learning and brushing his/her teeth she/he can not be at the initial point (not brushing). (Figure 1) If reinforcement follows , she/he will maintain and improve this behaviour. Positive oral hygiene will affect his/her metabolic systems and also psychology. Studies state that children with regular toothbrushing habits have higher self-esteem which affects the performance at school, sports, relations. |
