We can credit the scholars at the school in Jundishapur, from the 6th through the 10th centuries, as being the key source in the preservation and eventual transmission of the earlier Greaco‑Roman medical texts to Western Europe.  The Moslem empire actively pursued the acquisition of these earlier studies.
