A disinfectant shed for yellow fever quarantine in the United States South late in the 19th century. The failure of this preventive effort lead to massive yellow fever outbreaks in 1878 and 1879 in most of the major cities of the United States, South of the Mason Dixon Line, killing untold thousands in these two disease outbreaks. |
