Provides active and passive learning

If the demonstration is performed correctly, it can be a very effective in showing what happens; or, the educator may have students demonstrate the correct procedure to the class. Students tend to pay closer attention to classmates, and performing the demonstration gives students hands-on experience to reinforce concepts. It is very effective for skills learning.

Example: Using stethoscope to communicate with older patients who are hard of hearing. Have students bring their stethoscope to class and put ear pieces in their ears and have a class partner talk into the diaphragm. Demonstrates a readily available resource to enhance communication.
