Low back pain. Usually what
happens if you have an initial episode, for most people – 90% of people, it usually
doesn’t last that long. So even though you have LBP you aren’t tortured by it month
after month. Most people, 90%, recover within a month or so. However many people will have
recurrences. There are a few unfortunates in whom LBP is very persistent and the figures
are usually that 7-10% have persistent back pain and about 3% of the total people who get
low back pain are really chronically disabled. And it is this 10% who basically count for
the most of the cost related to LBP. Obviously, it has a major impact on quality of life
and health care expenditures. |
