LYM Session - 8 November 2009
08 November 2009

Our last meeting started with Ahmed Fathy, LYM general coordinator and Ashraf Gouda welcoming the attendees and introducing Suzan Adel’s presentation entitled “Suzan between Two worlds.

Suzan talked about her experience when she engaged in a global exchange program between Egypt and England, the program aims at enhancing the concept of volunteer work and encouraging youth to bring about change in their communities. This is through a journey in which two students from the two countries get the chance to discover their own and each other’s culture being hosted in each country by a local family.  She discussed her experience in both countries and the main life patterns that distinguish life in both urban and rural areas in each one. She also mentioned some information about buildings, poverty, cleanness, religions and diversity in each of the two countries and how they perceive the concept of volunteering and community service. Then, she started talking about what she has learned from such experience and how she attempted to make use of all the positive things she learnt.

After that, the attendees started a very interesting discussion with Suzan; where they discussed the main differences between the two countries and what the main reasons behind these remarkable differences are, also how is she willing to make advantage of what she gained in order to change her community to the better.
