LYM Meeting - 12 February 2012

The LYM meeting today hosted a seminar entitled "Early Detection .. Care and Contentment" in parallel with the World Cancer Day. The Seminar was held in cooperation with the Safwa Pharmacy Club, Al Salama Hospitals and Alexandria Regional Centre for Women's Health and Development.
The meeting started with a presentation by Ms. Riham Abd El-Hamid, Senior Specialist at Bibliotheca Alexandrina about our "Youth and Environment Programs". Then, Dr. Walid Arafa, Professor of Oncology at Alexandria University gave a presentation entitled “World Cancer Day”. He discussed how can individuals protect themselves from cancer and the possible causes of each of the cancer types. After that, Dr. Mosaad Hemida, Surgery Consultant, gave a presentation about "Breast Cancer" in which he tackled the importance of early detection of the disease, its possible causes, its symptoms and how to avoid it. Then, the session ended with discussions between the Audience and the speakers. The session was moderated by our colleague Sara Ramadan, president of the Safwa Pharmacy Club.
Kindly note that our next meeting will be on the 26th of February 2012. Next Sunday is cancelled due to holding the Third Arab Environmental Youth Convention.
