The Center for Documentation of Cultural and Natural Heritage (CULTNAT) of the Cultural Outreach Sector of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina plays an important and unique role in documenting Egypt's cultural heritage in its tangible and intangible aspects, besides Egypt's natural heritage from protectorates and wildlife. The Center has contributed, for nearly two decades, to documenting and disseminating information related to heritage through the implementation of many projects for digital documentation of Egyptian heritage using the latest information technologies, in cooperation with specialized local and international bodies and the center is keen to increase awareness about cultural and natural hearitage and the Egyptian identity by making use of various media channels. CULTNAT also builds the capacities of workers in the field of documenting and preserving civilizational and natural heritage.
Aiming at preserving the Egyptian identity, the Center has established a group of digital exhibitions and modern display systems, which it uses to increase awareness at the local and international levels about the importance of Egyptian heritage and civilization throughout all ages and times.
CULTNAT was established upon the presidential decree number 360 for the year 2002.

CULTNAT publishes material in print and CD formats.
CULTNAT has also won several national, regional and international prizes.
