Challenges and Opportunities Facing Researchers in the Age of Pandemic
In continuation of its role in promoting scientific excellence and building young researchers' capacities in the region, the Center for Special Studies and Programs (CSSP) in collaboration with The World Academy of Sciences for the advancement of science in developing countries' Arab Regional Partner (TWAS-AREP) organize an online workshop on the Challenges and Opportunities facing Researchers in the Age of Pandemic. within the framework of the Young Scientists Training Program on 8-9 December 2020.

Young researchers in the developing countries are facing wide range of challenges along the way of their research career. With the outbreak of Covid-19 Pandemic, these challenges were magnified. This workshop aims to discuss; the challenges faced by the researches in the developing countries, how to deploy the research and innovation efforts to best serve the developmental challenges in the developing countries, what key competences the young researchers should acquire to progress in their career. The workshop will discuss as well the new trends in life sciences research and the ethical considerations that have to be well regarded. Special emphasis will be given to discuss the crucial role which the academic institutions can play during pandemic times.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Applicants aged 40 or less


  • Master/ PhD Students and PhD holder


  • Living and working in developing countries


  • Having scientific records


Special consideration to women scientists and refugees and/or displaced scientists.

Deadline for registration: 1 December 2020.

Only complete applications will be considered.

Accepted applicants will be notified before the event.
