Center for Special Studies and Programs (CSSP), a research center established in July 2003 in the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, aims to play a significant role in the progress of science and technology in Egypt. The CSSP will help researchers and scientists to get the best support needed to advance their work through international collaborations.

TWAS Arab Regional Prize 2019: Development of Scientific Educational Material

Deadline for Nominations: 20 August 2019 

The TWAS Arab Regional Prize for 2019 will be awarded in recognition of significant and innovative contributions to scientific educational material and school science curricula that have helped advance the quality of science education in the Arab Region.

The TWAS Arab Regional Prize winner will receive a USD 3,000 cash award. 

Nominations for women scientists are particularly encouraged.

TWAS Arab Young Affiliates 2019–2023

Deadline for Nominations: 20 August 2019

Each year, the five TWAS Regional Partners each select up to five scientists under the age of 40 years to be TWAS Young Affiliates for a period of five years. 

During their tenure, affiliates are invited to participate in TWAS general meetings and conferences.

This program seeks to identify the best young scientists in each region of the developing world, provide them with opportunities to network with one another and TWAS Fellows, and allow them to attend international conferences and other events for young scientists.

TWAS Arab Young Affiliates Eligibility Criteria:

Less than 40 years by nomination date
Native of an Arab country
Has at least 10 international publications in peer-reviewed journals
Residing and working in a developing country for at least the past three years.

Special consideration will be given to nominations from refugees and displaced young Arab scientists.

Call for Interns

The Center for Special Studies and Programs (CSSP) is gladly announcing an internship opportunity in the Academic research Sector in Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA). This is an unpaid internship for three months with fixed working hours.

The CSSP is an independent scientific non-profit institution affiliated to Bibliotheca Alexandrina’s (BA) Academic Research Sector and chaired by BA Director. Its mission is to become the nation’s premier force in the dissemination of good practice, advice, resources, and materials and for the delivery of need-based quality skills training for scientists and researchers. To support a network of partnerships with centers and elite institutions, the CSSP is committed to the development of quality science and the acceleration of new technologies.

-Working time:
Three days per week; 8 hours per day.

-Responsibilities:
• Related administrative tasks including handling the center’s invitations, website, email,… etc.
• Research related tasks.
• Other tasks assigned.

-Requirements: 
• Have a graduate (Bachelor) or a (post-graduate) degree.
• Scientific background is preferable.
• Fluency in English language.
• Computer skills: Proficiency in using computer programs and applications (Microsoft office package, Database Management, Internet surfing, Typing, Writing/Editing…).
• Report writing skills in English and Arabic.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Effective team skills and good presentation skills.
