Making homemade perfume is a simple process that only requires a few ingredients. Once you learn how to make your homemade perfume, you can save money on buying all the expensive commercial brand perfumes.
As a first step, you need to acquire the needed ingredients for the homemade perfume. Basically, you will need four tablespoons of ethyl alcohol, two cups of distilled water, ten drops of bergamot essential oil and ten drops of lavender essential oil.
Now, you will need to find a dark, air-tight bottle for storing the perfume after making it, a glass bottle will serve the purpose perfectly.
Fill your bottle with the distilled water. Then, add the ethyl alcohol, the bergamot essential oil and the lavender essential oil. Shake the bottle very gently until all the contents fully mix. The ingredients ratios that you add together, the order that follow in adding them, as well as the way you mix them will determine the type or quality of the perfume you will be getting eventually.
Store the bottle in a cool, dry place for a long enough period of time (minimum 48 hours). It is very important that you avoid letting sunlight reach the bottle. Once enough time has passed, and you are ready to wear your perfume, gently shake the bottle again. Use a small dab to test out your new perfume. If you are satisfied, use it as you would use any other type of perfume. If you are not satisfied, you can make another batch and this time try to modify the ratios you used in adding the ingredients, maybe you will need to store the bottle for a little bit longer time than you did the previous time, it could take you up to a month of storage to have a good quality perfume.
There is also an easy way to create homemade perfume using natural ingredients such as flower petals and alcohol. The principle here is much simple than the previously-mentioned method because all that you are trying to do is to extract the scent from the flower petal and absorb it into the alcohol. To do that, you will gently place as much flower petals as you can into a clean glass jar and cover them with the alcohol, then seal the jar and leave it in the absence of sunlight for a few days.
Afterwards, open the jar, filter its contents through a regular filter paper, then you have your perfume. The quality of the perfume you will have entirely depends on the type of alcohol you are using and the duration of storage. Still, you should not expect a high-quality product from this technique as it does not contain any essential oils.
There are many other techniques that you can follow to create your homemade perfume. It could take you a lot of effort at the beginning until you settle on your best way, yet, you would then master it well enough to create a quality product. Once you are there, you will be proud of the results.
