Abstract:
The CEO of ICCO (the Dutch Interchurch Organisation for Development Cooperation) advocates for maintaining ODA levels in spite of the current economic crisis. The world’s poor are likely to be the hardest hit. Already, in 2009, the ODA budget will be reduced by at least 300 million euros. Short-term thinking will lead to capital destruction: hard-fought-for results in the fields of health and education may easily be lost.
