Abstract:
A system of district health care has been developed in many of the least developed nations, but its cost is about 12 US$/inhabitants, which is more than the combined resources available. Sector-wide approaches and other forms of budget supports can help fill the gap. External expertise will be mainly needed to function as linking pin with international policymakers in an effort to further improve the efficiency of district health care.
