Abstract:
This paper analyzes non-democratic regimes. First, a short general overview of different forms of non-democratic rule will be given by providing the answers on four different questions: ‘How do they rule?’, ‘Who rules?’, ‘Why do they rule?’, and ‘When do they rule?’ Secondly, a general model, in which (de)stabilizing factors/influences on non-democratic regimes are combined, will be introduced and explained. This model can be used as a toolbox in order to analyze non-democratic regime stability in specific cases.
