Biography:

Khalil Tamersit (Senior Member, IEEE) received his Ph.D. in Electronics from Batna University, Batna, Algeria, in 2018. He is currently an Associate Professor at the National School of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, Abdelhafid Ihaddaden Science and Technology Hub, Algiers, Algeria. Dr. Tamersit has published over 70 articles, most of them as first or corresponding author, in reputed journals and international conferences. His research interests include carbon-based nanoelectronics and bioelectronics, modeling and simulation of sensors and biosensors at micro- and nanoscale, and the application of computational intelligence in smart sensing and nanoelectronic device simulation. More recently, his work has expanded to nanoactuators, nano-optoelectronic devices, and quantum transport in advanced nanoelectronic systems. He is an active member of several renowned scientific associations, societies, and academies, and was elected as a TWAS Young Affiliate for the period 2025–2030. His research on graphene-based biosensors earned a Certificate of Merit from the World Congress on Engineering (U.K., 2014). He also received the Best Paper Award at the 44th IEEE International Semiconductor Conference (2021), the TWAS Young Arab Scientist (YAS) Prize (2021), and the Royal Society Rising Star Africa Prize (U.K., 2022). He has been listed among the world’s top scientists for single-year research impact in 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025. Dr. Tamersit has served as General Secretary of the IEEE Algeria Section and as Chair of both the IEEE Sensors Council Algeria Chapter and the IEEE Nanotechnology Council Algeria Chapter. He has reviewed over 400 articles for leading journals (verified by Web of Science) and regularly contributes to the program committees of major IEEE conferences. He currently serves as an Editor for Scientific Reports (Springer Nature).
