This workshop will aim at developing a historical, sociological and typological analysis of different districts of Alexandria in order to get a good grasp of their urban specificities and propose possible directions for their future development. The local heritage as well as its architectural and social value will be taken into consideration. It shall be important to examine the question of how old or more recent districts of the city may develop, considering that cities currently expand very quickly and in a disorganized way, sometimes ignoring existing constructions and architectural heritage.

First, a field study will be conducted, followed by a diagnostic phase and an analysis of existing documents. Our discussions and ideas will eventually develop into propositions for urban-planning projects. That our propositions may contribute to the future urban development of Alexandria would be extremely rewarding.
