 Science Supercourse

Science Supercourse is a project jointly coordinated by Ismail Serageldin, Director of the Library of Alexandria, and Ronald Laporte, Director of the WHO Collaborating Center for Disease Monitoring and Telecommunications at the University of Pittsburgh.

This effort was designed to improve information sharing among professionals and educators in four major fields of science: public health, agriculture, computer engineering, and environment. Lectures are shared in PowerPoint format to empower educators around the world.

 Get Involved!

The SSC is based on involving the community and encouraging professors and experts to participate by adding their own lectures to the website for the benefit of students and teachers everywhere.

 If you are a Professor of Agriculture, Computer Engineering, Health or Environmental Health, be part of the SSC and upload your lectures.

The 2012 L'OREAL-UNESCO Pan Arab Regional Fellowships
Call for Applications

The L'Oreal-UNESCO Pan Arab Fellowships program was one of the first pioneering regional programs aiming towards recognizing Arab women scientists' achievements. Following the success of the L'Oreal-UNESCO Pan Arab Fellowships For Women in Science, the program has been expanded in 2011 to include candidates from 17 Arab countries to further celebrate the phenomenal achievements of the region's women scientists.

In 2012 L'Oreal and UNESCO, for the third year of the program, will grant 10 fellowships to 10 exceptional scientists from Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, the Sultanate of Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, U.A.E. and Yemen.

Each Fellow will receive 20,000 USD in recognition of her contribution to the advancement of science and to further progress her career.

Trieste NEXT Festival
(28 - 30 September 2012)

TWAS has been invited to participate in an international science festival called Trieste NEXT, from 28 to 30 September 2012. This festival will be focused on "FOOD", and will involve all the major scientific institutes from Trieste, in the effort to deliver a message about the importance of research for food security, sustainable development and well-being.

For this reason, among other initiatives, we are now collecting exotic (for Italy) recipes from all the countries where TWAS operates.

Ideally, the recipes we would like to receive should be fairly simple to prepare, and speak of the local country where they come from.

C V Raman Fellowship India 2012

The Department of Science& Technology (DST) and Ministry of External Affairs(MEA), Government of India through the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce& Industry (FICCI), have launched the prestigious C V Raman International Fellowship programme for African Researchers in 2010 to provide them opportunity to conduct collaborative research with leading research groups in Indian universities and R&D institutions in areas of Science and Technology .

The objective of this Fellowship is to provide opportunity for African researchers to conduct collaborative research in various areas of science and technology in different Indian universities and R&D institutions under guidance of host scientists in India.
