Center for Special Studies and Programs (CSSP), a research center established in July 2003 in the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, aims to play a significant role in the progress of science and technology in Egypt. Water and Sanitation in Africa and the Middle East Conference

The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) for the advancement of science in developing countries through its Regional Office for sub-Saharan Africa in collaboration and its Arab Regional Office of TWAS are co-organizing the “Water and Sanitation in Africa and the Middle East” conference on 28-29 October 2013, at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Alexandria, Egypt.

The main objective of the Conference is to build capacity and awareness on water and sanitation issues in Africa and the Middle East, and to propose solutions to existing barriers to address these issues.

The conference is with registration fees. Registration deadline: 15 October 2013.

Science and Diplomacy Workshop

Science Diplomacy Workshop
9 - 13 December 2013

The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) for the advancement of science in developing countries is inviting innovative young scientists, policymakers and diplomats from the developing world to apply to attend a science diplomacy workshop in December 2013 on the challenges of sustainable energy policies.

The application deadline is 15 September 2013.

The workshop on Innovative Energy Policies for a Sustainable Future will be held from 9 to 13 December 2013 in Trieste, Italy. The event aims to open discussions between the scientific and policymaking communities to open avenues in which scientific knowledge can solve real-life problems in the South.

Science Supercourse

Science Supercourse is a project jointly coordinated by Ismail Serageldin, Director of the Library of Alexandria, and Ronald Laporte, Director of the WHO Collaborating Center for Disease Monitoring and Telecommunications at the University of Pittsburgh.SSC Website

This effort was designed to improve information sharing among professionals and educators in four major fields of science: Public Health, Agriculture, Computer Engineering, and Environment. Lectures are shared in PowerPoint format to empower educators around the world.

 Get Involved!

The SSC is based on involving the community and encouraging professors and experts to participate by adding their own lectures to the website for the benefit of students and teachers everywhere.

If you are a Professor of Agriculture, Computer Engineering, Health or Environmental Health, be part of the SSC and upload your lectures.
