  BioVisionAlexandria 2016

12–14 April 2016

It is our pleasure to announce that the Bibliotheca Alexandrina is organizing its eighth International Biennial Conference, BioVisionAlexandria (BVA) 2016, 12–14 April 2016, Alexandria, Egypt in partnership with World Life Science Forum, BV Lyon.

Today, innovation in science and technology is moving fast and in diverse directions. One research carries hopes and benefits, while another brings along risks and dangers. Today, we need to emphasize the potentials of research and science, and discuss the ethical responsibilities of research management and their outcome. Together, we will delve into the road ahead to perceive the opportunities, benefits, and controversial threats it hides for us. Together, we will use research and science for the benefit of our world as well as discover solutions for the challenges and obstacles we may face.

The theme of BVA 2016 will be New Life Sciences: “The Road Ahead” where we will be exploring the way ahead to make the best out of scientific research and innovation with minimal pitfalls possible.

As usual, we aim at gathering distinguished Nobel Laureates, leaders in science, industry, society, policy-making, media and civil society to explore the different ways in which life sciences can help meet the challenges facing us now.

Registration will open Sunday, 2 August 2015

Stay tuned to our website, Facebook and Twitter feeds for registration and conference updates!

TWAS Visiting Expert Programme

 TWAS Visiting Expert Programme

The TWAS Visiting Expert Programme supports visits of internationally renowned scientists to institutions located in developing countries, especially those located in the Least Developed Countries (LDCs).

The objective of the programme is to provide institutions and research groups in developing countries, especially those with limited outside contacts, with the opportunity to establish long-term links with world leaders in science and so help develop capacity-building in their country. Under the programme, prospective host institutions can invite internationally renowned experts in areas of science other than mathematics and physics to collaborate in research and training.

The visit should have a minimum stay of two weeks at the host institution. TWAS will cover the cost of the air ticket and will provide an honorarium of USD 500, while the host institution is expected to cover local expenses.
