Center for Special Studies and Programs (CSSP), a research center established in July 2003 in the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, aims to play a significant role in the progress of science and technology in Egypt. The CSSP will help researchers and scientists to get the best support needed to advance their work through international collaborations.

BioVisionAlexandria2006 "New Life Sciences: Changing Lives"

The BioVisionAlexandria2006 will be a continuation of the tradition that started in BioVision 1999 in Lyon , which aims to bring distinguished speakers in discussions commemorating science and the finest achievements of the human intellect.

The goal of the conference will be to promote the active exchange of biotechnological information, innovation, and new ideas and to encourage constructive dialogue between key players in the development of life in order to better meet the challenges facing the 21st century with regard to Life Sciences.

BioVisionAlexandria 2006 will be dedicated to the role of the New Life Sciences in Changing Lives.

> In preparation for the forthcoming BioVisionAlexandria 2006 conference, to take place from 26-29 April 2006, the Center for Special Studies and Programs (CSSP) is organizing a series of seminars showing video recordings of presentations by world known speakers and Nobel laureates from previous Biovision conferences.

All seminars are free of charge and will be conducted in the Auditorium at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina from 15:00 to 16:00.

The Fourth Symposium on Scientific Research Outlook in the Arab World (SRO IV)

The Fourth Symposium on Scientific Research Outlook in the Arab World (SRO IV) is a bi-annual conference sponsored and organized by the Arabic Science and Technology Foundation (ASTF) in Cooperation with Bibliotheca Alexandrina . The main goals of the conference are to:

  • Activate the role of scientific research and technological development to alleviate the relative lack of knowledge in the Arab World, which is among the main hurdles in the face of scientific achievement and human development.
  • Assess the performance of the Arabic scientific community, pinpoint its weaknesses, and suggest adequate solutions.
  • Encourage investing in the scientific and technical sectors and build bilateral ties between the scientific research institutions and investors in the Arabic region.
  • Encourage Arab researchers and scientists to conduct specialized research activities, especially in the fields that are prioritary for the Arab world, and identify exemplary experiences to further develop them and exploit them for the best scientific interest of the Arab world.
