"Renewable Energy and Sustainable Development" Lecture

The Center for Special Studies and Programs (CSSP) is organizing a lecture titled "Renewable Energy and Sustainable Development" on Tuesday, 22 December 2015.
The lecture will cover various types of renewable energy systems, the performance of existing systems, the impact of renewable energy on power grids, the societal and environmental impacts of renewable systems, and research and entrepreneurship opportunities.
The lecture will be given by Professor Mohamed A. El-Sharkawi, Emeritus Professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Washington, USA. The lecture is part of the Visiting Scholar Program (VSP).

Time: 11:00 am-12:00 noon

The Center for Special Studies and Programs (CSSP) is organizing a lecture titled "Research Planning and Management" on Tuesday, 22 December 2015.
Research and development in Egypt need to be revolutionized to provide sustainable economic growth for the country. The seminar addresses the key components of qualitative or deductive research. The talk will address key issues from the selection of research topics to the transfer of technology.
The lecture will be given by Professor Mohamed A. El-Sharkawi, Emeritus Professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Washington, USA. The lecture is part of the Visiting Scholar Program (VSP).

TWAS/BVA.NXT 2016 will be held under the theme “Research Ethics and Social Responsibility”. It intends to explore research ethics in the developing world, and highlight its importance for society. It will also identify researchers’ responsibilities to overcome obstacles in developing countries using quality controlled and high standard research.
TWAS/BVA.NXT 2016 participants will be offered the opportunity to meet other young scientists and professionals from different parts of the world. This will allow them to share their views regarding the status, obstacles and concerns of ethical research in developing countries.
They will also be offered the chance to discuss different problems regarding marketing of ideas, tools for efficient patent searches and Intellectual Property Rights. The best ten young scientists will have the opportunity to present their innovative ideas and their impact on the development of societies.
Furthermore, the young scientists will be invited to participate in BioVisionAlexandria Conference.
Priority will be given to the best innovative research, and to research papers that meet the needs of the society.

It is our pleasure to announce that the Bibliotheca Alexandrina is organizing its eighth International Biennial Conference, BioVisionAlexandria (BVA) 2016, 12–14 April 2016, Alexandria, Egypt in partnership with World Life Sciences Forum, BV Lyon.
Today, innovation in science and technology is moving fast and in diverse directions. One research carries hopes and benefits, while another brings along risks and dangers. Today, we need to emphasize the potentials of research and science, and discuss the ethical responsibilities of research management and their outcome. Together, we will delve into the road ahead to perceive the opportunities, benefits, and controversial threats it hides for us. Together, we will use research and science for the benefit of our world as well as discover solutions for the challenges and obstacles we may face.
The theme of BVA 2016 will be New Life Sciences: “The Road Ahead” where we will be exploring the way ahead to make the best out of scientific research and innovation with minimal pitfalls possible.
As usual, we aim at gathering distinguished Nobel Laureates, leaders in science, industry, society, policy-making, media and civil society to explore the different ways in which life sciences can help meet the challenges facing us now.

DIES Training Course
“Management of Internationalisation”

Leibniz Universität Hannover, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), and the German Rectors’ Conference (HRK) are jointly organising the DIES Training Course “MANAGEMENT OF INTERNATIONALISATION” in cooperation with Universidad de Guanajuato – UG (Guanajuato, México), Manipal University – MU (Manipal, India), and Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology – JKUAT (Nairobi, Kenya).
The training course is part of the DIES programme (Dialogue on Innovative Higher Education Strategies), which has been jointly coordinated by the DAAD and the HRK (German Rectors’ Conference) since 2001.
The key objective of the training course is to qualify university staff (either International Office staff or higher education managers responsible for coordinating international activities) from selected countries of Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, and Asia, to manage processes and tasks of internationalisation in the area of higher education. The programme will enable the participants to build up improved and more effective structures of internationalisation at their home universities.

GE-SEED – German Egyptian Mobility Program for Scientific Exchange and Excellence Development

The German Egyptian Mobility Program for Scientific Exchange and Excellence Development GE-SEED (formerly known as GESP) is a fund that supports the exchange of scientific visits between Egyptian and German research teams, with special emphasis on young scientists (Master and PhD students) and within the framework of a jointly submitted research project of a period up to two years.
This program is co- financed by the Science and Technology Development Fund in Egypt (STDF) and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) in Germany.
