Center for Special Studies and Programs (CSSP), a research center established in July 2003 in the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, aims to play a significant role in the progress of science and technology in Egypt. “Genomes, Metagenomes, and Microbiomes: Shaping the Biology of The Current Millennium”

The Center for Special Studies and Programs (CSSP) organizes “Genomes, Metagenomes, and Microbiomes: Shaping the Biology of The Current Millennium” Lecture, on Thursday, 14 September 2017.

The lecture will be presented by Prof. Ramy Karam Aziz, Professor and Acting Chair, Department of Microbiology and Immunology, Faculty of Pharmacy, Cairo University.

The Lecture is organized within the framework of  “Simplified Science Program” that provides series of scientific lectures aiming at introducing peaking and newly emerging fields of science to the public audience in a simplified way.

Venue: Bibliotheca Alexandrina Conference Center, Lecture Hall.

Time: 11:00 am –1:00 pm.

Cancer Awarness Seminar “New Trends in Cancer Research”

Within the framework of  Health Education Club, the Center for Special Studies and Programs (CSSP) and the TWAS-ARO are organizing the Cancer Awarness Seminar entitled “New Trends in Cancer Research”, on Monday, 30 October 2017; 12:00 noon – 4:00 pm at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Conference Center, Lecture Hall.

The Seminar aims at raising the public awareness of cancer, and encourage its early detection and prevention. During this one-day Seminar, we will discuss different types of cancer that are of high incidence and prevalence in Egypt and Arab countries, how to face it and reduce the disease's stigma by educating people about its symptoms and treatment options. The Seminar will also highlight the new trends in research.

The Seminar will be presented by:

 

Prof. Mohamed El-Shinawi, Professor of General Surgery;  

Prof. Mohamed El-Debikey, Professor of Pediatric Surgery;  

Prof. Noha El-Sharnouby, Professor of Anesthesia, ICU and Nutrition;  

Prof. Ahmed Morcy, Professor  of Orthopedics; and  

Prof. Tarek Yousef, Professor of Surgery.

 

Health Education Club: is a  public health awareness program. It aims to provide the public community with the opportunity to learn and share the attributes of a healthy lifestyle through regular educational sessions dealing with different health topics.

BioVisionAlexandria 2018

It is our pleasure to announce that the Bibliotheca Alexandrina is organizing its ninth International Biennial Conference,BioVisionAlexandria(BVA)2018, 
20–22 April 2018, Alexandria, Egypt; in partnership with World Life Science Forum, BV Lyon.

 

The theme of BVA 2018 is “New Life Sciences: Towards SDGs”. The Conference will highlight the important role science plays with regards to achieving SDGs. More insights on the science-based decision-making will be introduced and how this affects the developing world. Numerous scientists, leaders, and decision makers will gather to address life sciences’ contribution towards the prosperity of the world. Furthermore, within the framework of BVA 2018, we are pursuing the launch of the first conference on “Robotics and Bio-robotics in Life Sciences” to take place at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina.

 

During the Conference, numerous distinguished speakers will share their experiences and insights with the large audience, mostly from developing countries. As usual, we aim at gathering distinguished leaders in science, industry, society, policy-making, media and civil society to explore the different ways in which life sciences can help meet the challenges we face.
