The Ninth International Biennial Conference BioVisionAlexandria (BVA) 2018

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA) organized its ninth International Biennial Conference, BioVisionAlexandria (BVA) 2018, in partnership with the World Life Science Forum. The conference took place at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina in Alexandria, Egypt, during the period from the 20th to the 22nd of April 2018. The theme of BVA 2018 was “New Life Sciences: Towards SDGs”.

The conference highlighted the important role science plays with regards to achieving SDGs, a topic which interests many international scientists, politicians and decision-makers, because these goals are a reflection of the needs of both the developing and the developed nations.

This year, BioVisionAlexandria conference 2018 was a unique opportunity, gathering more than 2,500 participants mostly university students, academia, and around 109 speakers from the four corners of the globe including; eminent scientists, ministers, and industry representatives.

The BioVisionAlexandria (BVA) 2018 organizers invited young researchers to present their research work during the Poster Session at BioVisionAlexandria 2018 international conference. A total of 48 posters were presented from different institutions addressing related research subject(s) in Health, Environment or Agriculture, in response to SDGs.

The BA organized a major fair entitled “BioFair@BioVisionAlexandria 2018”. The fair allowed the development of a new business, revisited existing customers, strengthened the relationship with them for future expansion. BioFair@BioVisionAlexandria was an excellent opportunity to meet colleagues, shared knowledge, and created productive networks.

TWAS/BVA.NXT 2018 was organized for the fifth time in the BA. It was held under the theme “Science Diplomacy: Voices of the South”. It brought together experts and academics along with 29 young promising scientists from the south where they explored science diplomacy role in the developing countries. The event provided young scientists the opportunity to meet policy makers and diplomats from around the world to discuss the possible ways of cross-border collaborations and partnerships to improve science and relationships between nations.
