TWAS-BIOTEC Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme
For young scientists from developing countries (other than Thailand) who wish to pursue advanced research in biotechnology at the National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC), Thailand.
Programme Details
-
TWAS-BIOTEC Postdoctoral Fellowships are tenable in BIOTEC and its affiliated research units for 12 to 24 months and are awarded to young scientists from developing countries (other than Thailand) to enable them to pursue advanced research in biotechnology.

BIOTEC will provide a standard monthly allowance which should be used to cover living costs, such as accommodation and food.

The language of instruction is English.

Medical Research Council Research Bioethics and Food Security

Research Bioethics, and Food Security
15 - 17 July 2009
On 15 and 16 July, representatives from the Netherlands, USA, Syria, India and other countries met at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina to help in advising on setting up a "National Committee for Bioethics" that would provide advice and counsel on bioethics and related matters in Egypt.
Similarly, on 17 July, they met to discuss the design of a national food security strategy for Egypt that would help guide agricultural research and agricultural and trade policy in Egypt in years to come.

German Egyptian Scientific Projects GESP - Mobility Grant program for German Egyptian research teams
The German Egyptian Scientific Projects GESP is a new fund that supports the exchange of scientific visits between Egyptian and German research teams.
This program is co-financed by the Science & Technology Development Fund (STDF) in Egypt and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) in Germany.

GERSS - German-Egyptian Research Short term Scholarship
The German Egyptian Research Short term Scholarship GERSS is a program jointly funded by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MHESR) and the German Academic Exchange Service, Bonn (DAAD) in order to finance short-term scholarships for young Egyptian scientists to travel to Germany.
The target groups of the program are researchers enrolled in MSc, PhD programs and young Post Doctoral candidates. The scholarships may be awarded for a period from three to six months.

2009 Emerald/ALCS African Engineering Research Fund Award
Emerald and ALCS (The Authors' Licensing and Collecting Society), in association with INASP (International Network for the Availability of Scientific Publications) and the African Engineering Education Association (AEEA), are pleased to announce the launch of the 2009 Emerald/ALCS African Engineering Research Fund Award.
The Award-winning entry will receive a cash prize of £2,500 (approximately US$4,000 equivalent) to fund the winning research project. Applications should focus on the subject of material sciences, and should also address the dissemination of knowledge for the social good with a specific orientation toward benefit for Africa
The closing date for receipt of applications is 1 February 2010 .
