Center for Special Studies and Programs (CSSP), a research center established in July 2003 in the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, aims to play a significant role in the progress of science and technology in Egypt. The CSSP will help researchers and scientists to get the best support needed to advance their work through international collaborations.

Science Supercourse
Science Supercourse is a project jointly coordinated by Ismail Serageldin, Director of the Library of Alexandria, and Ronald Laporte, Director of the WHO Collaborating Center for Disease Monitoring and Telecommunications at the University of Pittsburgh.
This effort was designed to improve information sharing among professionals and educators in four major fields of science: health, agriculture, engineering, and environment. Lectures are shared in PowerPoint format to empower educators around the world.

The SSC is based on involving the community and encouraging professors and experts to participate by adding their own lectures to the website for the benefit of students and teachers everywhere.
If you are a Professor of Agriculture, Computer Engineering, Health or Environmental Health, be part of the SSC and upload your lectures.

TWAS Fellowships: 2011 Call for Applications
Postgraduate, postdoctoral, visiting scholar and advanced research fellowships available to scientists from developing countries.
The Academy of Sciences for the Developing World (TWAS) is now accepting applications for its postgraduate, postdoctoral, visiting scholars and advanced research fellowship programs. The fellowships are offered to scientists from developing countries and are tenable at centers of excellence in various countries in the South, including Brazil, China, India, Kenya, Malaysia, Mexico, Pakistan and Thailand.
Eligible fields include: agricultural and biological sciences, medical and health sciences, chemistry, engineering, astronomy, space and earth sciences, mathematics and physics.

TWAS Arab Regional Office Prize 2011
Deadline for Application: 31 March 2011
This year, the subject area is "The Development of Scientific Educational Material".
The TWAS Regional Prizes this year will be awarded in recognition of significant and innovative contributions to scientific educational material, especially the development of "creative programs aiming at stimulating science education in school children", that have helped to advance the quality of science education in the Region.
The winners from TWAS five regional offices will be announced together at TWAS's 22nd General Meeting to be held in Marrakech, Morocco, 18 -22 September 2011.
Eligibility
Candidates for a TWAS-ARO Prize must be scientists who have been working and living in a developing country for at least ten years. They must meet at least one of the following qualifications:
- Scientific research achievement of outstanding significance for the development of scientific thought.
- Outstanding contribution to the application of Science and Technology to industry or to human well-being in a developing country.

TWAS-ARO Young Affiliates 2011-2015

TWAS-ARO Young Affiliates 2011-2015
Deadline for Application: 1 April 2011
Each year, TWAS's five Regional Offices select up to five scientists to be 'TWAS Young Affiliates' for a period of five years.
During their tenure, Affiliates are invited to participate in TWAS general meetings and conferences.
This program, which began in 2007, seeks to identify the best young scientists in each region of the developing world and provide them with opportunities to network with one another, with TWAS Fellows, and to attend international conferences and other events for young scientists.
The appointments are made for a period of five years (covering five TWAS General Meetings).
Please find below TWAS Young affiliates eligibility criteria
1. Less than 40 years old by January 2011.
2. Native of a developing country from the Arab Region.
3. Has at least 10 International publications in peer-reviewed journals.
4. Living and working in a developing country for at least the past three years.
5. Nomination should be only signed and send through TWAS-ARO members.
