The publications will include Renovation and Foundation in the Architecture of Islamic Societies by Dr. Ismail Serageldin, Director of the Library of Alexandria; Ibn Khaldun: the Mediterranean in the 14th Century: the Rise and Fall of Empires, which was translated from Spanish into Arabic; and The Marvels of Arabic Calligraphy in the Al-Busiri Mosque by Dr. Khaled Azab and Dr. Mohammed El Gamal.
Renovation and Foundation in the Architecture of Islamic Societies tackles the most important challenges facing architects in Islamic societies, especially the issue of renovation and authenticity in architecture, including the concepts of modernity, heritage and preservation of civilization with a contemporary touch. Ibn Khaldun's book is a series of historic studies, a journey through time and space, especially during the fourteenth century, reviewing the most important political events and state of affairs at the time of Ibn Khaldun, as well as the political, social, and economic turbulences in the Mediterranean which shaped our modern age. While the book The Marvels of Arabic Calligraphy in the Al-Busiri Mosque documents the inscriptions of the mosque through a descriptive analysis of the Mosque’s inscriptions and writings.
The BA will also present Rhythm and Verses… Masterpieces of Persian Calligraphy in the Fair. The book is prepared by Heba Nayel Barakat, and includes a collection of magnificent artistic manuscripts from the Islamic Arts Museum in Malaysia (IAMM). The book is a product of the cooperation between the BA Calligraphy Center, Al-Bukhari Foundation and the Islamic Arts Museum in Malaysia (IAMM).
The Fatimid Inscriptions and Writings on the Architectural Monuments by Dr. Farag Hussein Farag, will be also displayed in the BA’s pavilion in the Fair. The thesis studies the Fatimid writings and inscriptions from the archaeological and artistic prospects. It demonstrates the development of the Kufi Calligraphy: its origins, emergence, evolution and its forms. The study focuses on the material the inscriptions were engraved on.
In addition to publications in English and French, the BA will also present for the first time a collection of translated and digitized Saint Catherine's Monastery manuscripts on CDs, and a group of digitized Arabic and Islamic Manuscripts.
It is worth mentioning that the BA is currently negotiating cooperation agreements with Dar El Shorouk, Egyptian Lebanese Publishing House and Al-Ahram Foundation. The BA had signed a partnership with Akhbar el Yom Foundation and Dar Eltahrir Publishing House.
