The BA Alex Med held a book launch for Daughters of the Nile: Egyptian Women Changing their World on Sunday, 5 March 2017. The event was a great success and was attended by a number of Alexandrians and consuls of European and Arab countries.
The book includes the success stories of 38 renowned and pioneering Egyptian women who have greatly impacted Egyptian history and whose achievements have been recognized in Egypt and elsewhere. These figures include Dr. Hala El-Saeed as Minister of Planning and Administrative Reform; Engineer Madiha El Mehelmy Kotb, nuclear energy specialist, Canada; Sahar al Sallab, named by Arabian Business as one of the most powerful women in the Middle East; Sonia Abadir Ramzi, an expert at UNESCO; and Azza Fahmy.
The stories of these women highlight various intriguing details, forgotten practices, and historical events that took place from the mid/late 20th century to the beginning of the 21st century in Egypt and in other parts of the world.
This publication mainly aims to address and counter the frustration that may inflict Egyptians nowadays through presenting them with a variety of success stories of Egyptian women; figures that have proved themselves internationally and have excelled at achieving greatness on international levels. The book provides its readers with several inspiring lessons and motivational stories from the lives of women all around the world.
