In a seminar at the BA… El-Enany Highlights Egypt's Efforts in Promoting the Antiquities Sector in Recent Years

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina organized yesterday evening a seminar entitled "Egypt's Antiquities and Museums: Preserving the Unique Cultural Heritage and Enhancing Tourism Leadership", which was delivered by Dr. Khaled El-Enany, former Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, and Egypt's candidate for the position of Director-General of UNESCO. The event was moderated by Dr. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina.
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Ahmed Zayed highlighted the efforts made by Dr. Khaled El-Enany during his term as Minister of Tourism and Antiquities. He stated that Egypt is among the countries that possess an ancient and diverse cultural heritage that can be found in customs, traditions, and folk tales, together with monuments from the Pharaonic civilization until the present time, pointing out that this heritage is part of the Egyptian identity.
Dr. Zayed also referred to Dr. El-Enany's candidacy for the position of Director-General of UNESCO, pointing to his various contributions at the academic and professional levels.
For his part, Dr. Khaled El-Enany gave a presentation on the achievements of the Egyptian state over the past years with regard to the preservation of the country’s cultural heritage through restorations and new discoveries, and its efforts in the field of tourism.
In addition to his remarkable academic contributions, Dr. Khaled El-Enany acted as Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, where he oversaw the inauguration of the Rams Road, the opening of the Antiquities Museums of Sharm El-Sheikh and Kafr El-Sheikh, and the event of the Pharaohs’ Royal Parade.
