The International Conference on Information Literacy (ICIL) Kicks Off at the BA

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina launched this morning the third edition of the International Conference on Information Literacy - Africa 2024 "ICIL Africa", which is being held for the first time in Egypt and North Africa under the slogan "Information Literacy Revolution... Get ready!", in collaboration with North-West University (NWU), the University of Pretoria, the Association of African Universities - North Africa Regional Office (AAU – NARO), and the African Library and Information Associations and Institutions (AFLIA), from 14 to 17 October, at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Conference Center.

Dr. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, pointed out that the conference will discuss several topics, including the use of artificial intelligence and its role in promoting scientific research, highlighting the importance of raising awareness among researchers, library workers, and information service providers about the tools of modern technology.

The conference aims to bring together researchers, library and information service providers, media professionals, educators, and policymakers from around the world to share their knowledge and experiences, and discuss recent developments and current challenges in the field of information literacy.

Several prominent figures in the field of library science and information technology are expected to take part in the conference.
