A Memorandum of Cooperation between the BA and the Arab League

The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, and Prof. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, signed today a memorandum of cooperation between both entities in the fields of sustainable development and capacity building to enhance joint efforts in achieving the global sustainable development goals and the Arab Vision 2045 in the Arab world. The ceremony was held at the headquarters of the Arab League General Secretariat, as part of the inauguration of the fifth edition of the Arab Week for Sustainable Development, which takes place from 24-27 November 2024.
Prof. Zayed said that this cooperation represents a strategic step to enhance the role of the Library as an intellectual and cultural center that contributes to the dissemination of knowledge and the service of Arab societies. He also mentions that it strengthens the efforts to exchange resources and experiences in a way that supports various research and scientific activities.
The cooperation will be implemented through the BA Sustainable Development Studies, Youth Capacity Building, and African Relations Support Program and the Arab League’s Department of Sustainable Development and International Cooperation. It includes joint scientific conferences, specialized seminars, training programs, workshops, and other various activities in the field of sustainable development, with a focus on young people and women. It also aims towards conducting joint studies and specialized research in the field of development.
