Webinar: "The Urban Identity of the City of Baghdad and the Threats of Ruralization"

Dr. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, inaugurated the webinar "The Urban Identity of the City of Baghdad and the Threats of Ruralization" by Dr. Hamied Al-Hashimi, Professor of Sociology at the International Colleges of Islamic Science in London.

The event is part of a series of seminars entitled "Social Sciences in a Changing World", launched by the BA in August 2023, in cooperation with the Center for Research and Social Studies at the Faculty of Arts, Cairo University. It was moderated by Dr. Riham Abdel Hamid, Head of the Sustainable Development Studies, Youth Capacity Building, and African Relations Support Program.

In this seminar, the researcher addressed the impact of urban growth and socio-economic factors on the identity of Baghdad, focusing on the threats to the architectural and historical character of the city, and how to preserve it amidst modern changes.
