The Bibliotheca Alexandrina organized a seminar entitled "The Romance of a Nation", delivered by Dr. Essam Sharaf, former Prime Minister, and moderated by Prof. Ahmed Abdullah Zayed, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, in the presence of a large number of intellectuals.

Dr. Essam Sharaf discussed the meaning of the homeland, the romance of the nation, and the “state” of October, concluding with the Homeland Project. He said that the homeland is a supreme value that is not affected by people or things, and that patriotism is a feeling that is similar to the feeling of motherhood. On the "romance of a nation", he stressed that romance is about the concept of giving without measure, and that sacrifice means transcending the usual natural abilities.

With regard to the "Homeland Project", Dr. Sharaf pointed out that this national project relies on messages that are aimed at consolidating the concept of citizenship and national identity, and that it must involve the government, the private sector, and civil society in the education, media, and art sectors.
