After having lost the battle of Tobruk, Sergeant Joe Gunn and his tank crew pick up British soldiers, a French man, a Sudanese man and an Italian prisoner. Trying to cross the Libyan Desert to reunite with their army, they face a run for water alongside the German enemy.
