The International Conference on "Cultural Identity and Architecture"

The Calligraphy Center at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina is hosting the International Conference on "Cultural Identity and Architecture", 17-19 April 2004. Co-organized under the auspices of the Aga Khan Award for Architecture and the Egyptian Society of Architects, the conference includes an an exhibition that will be held at the Library and the DICUMAR workshop, held at CULTNAT in Cairo.

The conference aims to search in depth the concepts and values of the cultural identity as a source of contemporary architecture. It will also provide a forum for the exchange of views and development of recommendations on interrelated issues concerning architectural typology and heritage, as well as its impact on the natural and cultural environment.
